important information for breweries for the 2019 bc beer awards and festival
The BC Beer Awards and Festival is returning to Vancouver Saturday, October 19, 2019 to the Croatian Cultural Centre. Information regarding brewery registration for a booth at the Festival, purchasing of Industry Passes, registration for breweries submitting beers for Judging and registration for the Brewers Challenge is listed below. Let's begin!
Step One: Festival Booth Purchase and Registration
Invitations were sent by email on Friday, May 17th to the 45 breweries who were approved for a booth at the festival. We don’t have any extra spots sorry. The link to purchase your booth is here and it’s password protected so you’ll need to enter the CODE sent to you in the invitation. We strongly advise that you purchase your Industry passes at this time as well.
Booths are $350 plus GST and include 2 non transferable pouring passes for your staff to work your booth. These passes will be emailed to you and must be presented by your staff upon entry.
Deadline to purchase your booth is Monday, June 17th. Limited space is available, so please don't delay in submitting your registration. Booths not claimed by the deadline will go to other breweries on our waitlist.
*Note: only breweries that are submitting beers for judging are eligible to register for a booth. The beer MUST be made in BC.
Step Two: Industry Passes
You have the opportunity to purchase up to six Industry Passes at the time of purchasing your booth, for the discounted price of $35 each. For those breweries who applied for a booth but were unsuccessful, we will be emailing you a link to purchase Industry Passes soon. Industry Passes provide access to the full event 4-9pm, including the Awards Hour. If you are not registering for a booth but have submitted beers for judging, and would like to purchase industry passes, please email Amanda.
Industry Ticket sales END JULY 15th. Early Bird General Admission and Awards Hour Tickets go on sale July 31st.
If you miss out on purchasing Industry Passes by the deadline of July 15, or if you need more than 6 tickets, or you just realize later that you need more, please then BUY EARLY BIRD TICKETS when they go on sale to the public. We ALWAYS sell out in advance and will not be able to offer more tickets due to capacity restrictions.
Step Three: Nominate Your Brewery Contact Person for Judging
At this time, we are asking that you register your intent to enter beers for judging by completing our form that nominates the person at your brewery who will responsible for collating and submitting your entries - ie. labelling, packaging and sending them to us. More information here.
Step Four: Brewers Challenge
BARREL AGED! Yup, the longer, the better! As BCBA has Aged 10 Years, we thought it was appropriate to challenge brewers to age their beer as well! 2019 is the #yearofthebarrelaged. To register for the Brewers Challenge, please fill in this form and submit it no later than September 1st.
The beer needs to have been barrel aged for a minimum of 4 months! No oak chipping, full on barrels please!
The beer must fit into BJCP category 33 Wood Beer (A or B) and be released for sale to the public between September 1st 2018 and September 1st 2019
Kegs or package - please no casks this time around!
You must have a booth at the event in order to participate.
It must be brought to the event and registered in advance by completing this form. Judging will take place on site and start at 2:30pm. Full event details will be sent out a month prior to the big day.
